The Behavior Boomerang

Whatever we throw out into the world is what comes back to us.  Jim Carrey once said that because he required himself to be at his best, it put others in a position to act their best toward him.  Mom knew what she was talking about.  If you want to have friends, be one.  If you need help, help someone.  If you are discouraged, encourage someone else and you’ll feel better.

If you want to be poor, act like a poor person.  Don’t budget, spend all that you have, go into debt and don’t pay attention to where you money goes.  Throw that boomerang and watch the pain it brings back.

If you want to be unhealthy, eat junk, watch loads of TV, go to bed late and don’t exercise.  At some point, the boomerang will come back and smack you upside the head.

Want to be wealthy?  Want to be healthy?  Want to be wiser, kinder, more patient, loving, personable and fulfilled?  Then load your boomerang with those things and be open to receive it when it comes back around.

There are all sorts of sayings that go along with this.  “You get what you give”.  “Give it out in slices, it comes back in loaves”. Principles are principles.  Decide what kind of life you want, every minute of every day, and throw that out to the world.  Be kind, be happy, be generous, honest and fair.  Not everyone will reciprocate, but more often than not your behavior boomerang will come right back to you.
